Chongqing's Climate
Set at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers within a mountain basin, Chongqing has a humid subtropical climate and is known as one of China's 'furnace' cities. Summer from July to August is brutally hot, with highs often topping 35–38°C and high humidity as the basin traps heat. Winters from December to February are mild but damp, around 6–12°C, famous for thick fog and very little sunshine.
